Your support of the Great Western Freedom 4 Run/Walk is an important part of the fundraising efforts necessary for Lazarus House to serve our neighbors in need who are experiencing homelessness or are in crisis. Homelessness is on the rise and expected to increase as much as 45% because of the pandemic. Thanks to all who have supported Lazarus House at this fun event.
As much as we would love to host the Great Western Freedom 4 Run/Walk as a live event, it is not possible this year due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Per the state mandated safety protocols of the Restore Illinois Plan to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, social distancing restrictions are still in place that will not allow us to host the race as a live event. Therefore, Lazarus House has decided to turn the annual Great Western Freedom 4 Run/Walk into a whole new type of fundraising event that does not require gatherings.
We are excited to announce the 2020 VIRTUAL Great Western Freedom 4 Run/Ride/Walk – A – Thon August 1st – 31st. In this new event we are looking for people to join our fundraising efforts by running, riding, and walking as much as you want, when you want, and where you want, as a fundraiser to support Lazarus House. You will have the opportunity to participate as an individual, join a team, or become a Team Captain and gather your friends/family to fundraise together, while maintaining social distancing! Participants will earn prizes for their fundraising and participation efforts. There will also be Pop-up challenges on social media to earn even more prizes!
